One of the books I read on our recent family vacation was
The Chocolate Connoisseur by Chloe Doutre-Roussel. It is written by a chocolate expert, and not a writing expert. The writing style is at once pedagogic and chatty like a teacher trying too hard to be a friend (hmm, sound familiar?). However, once I got past that, I found it very enjoyable. It is a short, easy read and taught me all I want to know about chocolate. The author champions the notions that chocolate can be tasted like wine, and that it should have a short list of fine ingredients. Who knew Godiva was mostly a marketing gimmick? And who knew you could buy Lindt 99%? Buy it for the chocaholic in your life.
